Advatech Pacific's demonstration included three scenarios to show different aspects of the uGATE capabilities. First, SINCGARS and the Sheriff's M/A-Com radios were |
connected to the uGATE C-Kit to demonstrate local voice communications interoperability. Second, the same uGATE C-Kit was used to dial through the Iridium Satellite system to Lt. Sawicki's cell phone, connecting the cell phone to the two radio systems already in an interoperable condition, which demonstrated that command and control could be exercised from anywhere in the world via satellite phone, cell phone or any other telephone. |

The third scenario included a second uGATE C-Kit with yet another radio network connected,

a standard Motorola Walkie-Talkie. One C-Kit was used to dial the Iridium phone number of the other, and the satellite connection was completed, tying all three disparate radio networks in an interoperable communications system with one of the systems beyond line of sight of the others, yet communicating as though they were within line of sight.

The demonstration was a complete success. Advatech Pacific plans to join the Riverside Sheriff Department in a large controlled training exercise this autumn with the next generation of the uGATE-C Kit, the C Plus, which will permit communications interoperability among up to eight disparate networks in addition to having access to the Iridium Satellite Constellation for beyond line of sight communications. The uGATE provides an inexpensive and flexible solution to the communications interoperability problem for military, police and fire, and all first responders to natural and civil disaster operations. |
